Joining Stratford Park Skating Club

We get enquiries from beginners and more experienced skaters who are thinking of joining the club. If you are starting to skate, the best time to arrive is 9:00 on a Sunday when our beginners' session starts. We have a mix of activities, starting with a warm up and with coached groups finishing at 11:00. The emphasis at the club is on roller skate dancing, nevertheless we do some figure and free skating. If you are advanced or want to compete, our sessions from 11:00 to 13:00 on Sundays or from 18:00 to 20:00 on Thursdays would be appropriate. The details of our sessions and our charges are set out below

If you would like to contact us to discuss our club you can contact the club at spsc@hotmail.co.uk

Sessions

Sundays

09:00 to 11:00 — This is for skaters from complete beginners to FARS Dance Grade 9. Generally, after a warm up, we practice grades and dances and have games and free time. We follow the FARS grade structure. The dance practice in this session is intended for beginners with occasional intermediate dances. For the skaters who are interested, we have extended our activities to include free skating, figures and skills associated with dances that are not covered in the FARS grades.

11:00 to 13:00 — This is for skaters wanting to compete and by invitation from the dance coaches only. We practice dances for all levels of ability including e.g. Glide Waltz, Olympic Foxtrot, Siesta Tango, Iceland Tango, Kilian and Paso Doble.

Thursdays (by invitation from the dance coaches only)

18:00 to 20:00 — These sessions are for skaters furthering their dance repertoire. The dances we practice range from basic to advanced dances. They run in smaller groups so that each skater gets more individual coaching.
